AI Recruiter ourteam Secures Pre-Seed Funding for Regional Expansion

AI recruitment startup, ourteam has closed its pre-seed funding round led by First Move, with participation from prominent Silicon Valley angel investors. The company’s platform uses artificial intelligence to automate and standardize candidate screening, aiming to make hiring across Asia faster, fairer, and more consistent.

The funding comes as ourteam positions itself to address one of the region’s biggest hiring challenges — screening hundreds of job applicants quickly and fairly. According to the company’s internal data, employers in Asia receive an average of 70 applications per role, yet only three candidates are typically interviewed and one is hired, with a median time-to-hire exceeding 35 days.

“ourteam was built to fix hiring that’s too slow, too manual, and often based on gut feeling,” said Yewwai Kong, Founder and CEO of ourteam. “We want every candidate to get a fair shot, and every employer to make confident decisions faster. This funding helps us deepen our AI capabilities, scale regionally, and redefine next-generation hiring in Asia.”

Ourteam was recently selected for the GenAI Fund FastTrack AI Accelerator, supported by the NVIDIA Inception Program, which provides GPU access, enterprise partnerships, and investor support to promising AI startups.

The company also announced a strategic partnership with PayGap Asia to promote pay transparency and workforce equity through data-driven, AI-enabled insights. Together, they aim to build a fairer and more transparent hiring ecosystem across the region.

Early adopters of ourteam’s AI screening platform include Prenetics, SenangPay, 42KL, Decube, and Arysun, reflecting strong uptake across technology, fintech, and education sectors. The startup is also piloting AI-driven screening solutions with enterprises in Malaysia and Vietnam, where high-volume recruitment remains a major bottleneck.

Ourteam’s platform offers a suite of features designed to simplify and speed up recruitment:

  • AI Interviewer: Conducts structured, adaptive video interviews in 5–20 minutes, available in English, Bahasa Indonesia, and Vietnamese.

  • Screening Intelligence: Provides deterministic scoring and AI summaries based on skills, experience, and role fit.

  • Enterprise-Ready Integration: Offers branded candidate experiences, role-based dashboards, and ATS-compatible exports.

  • Security and Compliance: Built with PDPA and GDPR alignment, with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications in progress.

By automating early-stage screening, ourteam enables recruiters to evaluate every candidate with consistency and fairness — delivering insights within hours instead of weeks.

As companies across Asia face mounting pressure to hire efficiently while improving diversity and fairness, ourteam’s technology aims to fill a critical gap between human judgment and scalable, data-driven hiring practices.
