In a historic move for gender equality within the Malaysian financial sector, Women in ETFs (WE) Malaysia hosted its debut event, “Woman and Her Worth – Are WE Enough?”. This landmark event marks the official launch of the WE Malaysia chapter, a pivotal addition to a global movement dedicated to fostering inclusivity and empowering women in the ETF and finance industry.
The event was held at the Menara Affin Auditorium in the Tun Razak Exchange, Kuala Lumpur. Themed around the powerful concept of self-worth, the enriching evening was filled with knowledge sharing, inspiration, and community building aspects.
Guests were able to gain invaluable insights from industry leaders on breaking down barriers and achieving success in the corporate and entrepreneurial world. The event also explored effective strategies for managing finances and well-being as an entrepreneur—topics often overlooked in professional discussions.
Wong Wai Ken, Country Manager, StashAway Malaysia and Corporate Sponsor of WE Malaysia, said: “We are proud to support WE Malaysia in their mission to empower women in finance. This event serves as a crucial step towards fostering a more inclusive and diverse industry, where women can reach their full potential.”
In the first panel discussion “Breaking Barriers: Empowering Corporate Women”, moderated by Wong Wai Ken, the discussion delved into the journeys of accomplished female leaders like Dato’ Ami Moris, Executive Chair of Cypark Berhad, and Munirah Khairuddin, CEO Malaysia and Global Shariah at Principal. The panellists shared their experiences navigating the financial sector, overcoming challenges, and building successful careers.
The second panel discussion “Balancing Act: Managing Finances and Well-being as an Entrepreneur” featured inspiring established entrepreneurs Rejina Rahim, Founder of Wahine Capital, and Linnet Lee, CEO of Resolute Planning Sdn Bhd. They discussed their ongoing entrepreneurial journeys, strategies for financial wellness, and valuable tips for achieving work-life balance.
WE Malaysia believes this movement plays a crucial role in propelling women’s success in the finance and ETF industry. Through events like this, WE Malaysia aims to spark meaningful conversations about gender equality and self-worth; provide a platform for women to connect, share experiences, and build a strong support network and equip women with the knowledge and skills necessary for thriving careers in the finance and ETF industry.
