Shell Recharge And PRO-NET Partner To Streamline EV Charging Nationwide

Shell Recharge and Proton New Energy Technology (PRO-NET), a subsidiary of national carmaker PROTON, have announced a strategic collaboration to simplify public EV charging access nationwide.

Through this partnership, drivers of PROTON e.MAS and smart EVs can now use the PROTON e.MAS and Hello smart mobile apps to locate and pay for charging at Shell Recharge stations across the country. The integration is designed to provide a seamless and convenient user experience, and supports the Malaysian government’s goal of building a connected and accessible EV ecosystem.

This collaboration comes at a time when Shell is expanding its EV charging network, including its recently launched High-Performance Charging (HPC) corridor linking the East and West Coasts of Peninsular Malaysia.

Shell Malaysia’s General Manager of Mobility & Convenience, Seow Lee Ming, said the partnership reflects Shell’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of EV drivers in Malaysia.

“We recognise the need for intuitive and convenient charging solutions, and that’s what we’re delivering with this collaboration,” Seow said. “By making our Shell Recharge stations available via PRO-NET’s digital platforms, EV drivers now have more ways to locate, navigate, and pay for charging across the country.”

PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang said the collaboration fits into the company’s broader vision of sustainable mobility, highlighting that its Integrated Live Charging Map now features more than 2,500 charging points nationwide.

“Our mission goes beyond selling electric vehicles—we’re building a smarter, more sustainable transport ecosystem,” Zhang said. “By teaming up with Shell, we are creating a more confident EV journey and reducing range anxiety for Malaysian drivers.”

To mark the launch of the partnership, Shell Recharge is offering a special promotion for PROTON e.MAS and smart EV drivers. From 26 May to 9 June 2025, users of the PROTON e.MAS and Hello smart apps will receive:

  • 30% off charging fees at Shell’s High-Performance Charging (HPC) bays

  • 10% off at all other Shell Recharge stations nationwide

These discounts are only available via payments made through the respective apps. Terms and conditions apply.

The collaboration between Shell Recharge and PRO-NET is the latest in a series of developments aimed at enhancing Malaysia’s EV infrastructure and improving the day-to-day experience for EV drivers. With more partnerships expected, the future of driving electric in Malaysia looks increasingly promising.
