Satu Creative Services Sdn Bhd (Satu Creative), in collaboration with Yayasan Hasanah and the Ministry of Finance (MOF), along with partners, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS), proudly announces the successful conclusion of the Satu Creative Hasanah Impact Challenge 2024 (SCHIC2024).
This impactful initiative was designed to empower early-stage social enterprises across Malaysia in developing sustainable, scalable solutions that address key social and environmental challenges.
Focused on four key areas – Environment, Arts & Public Spaces, Education, and Community Development, the challenge brought together social enterprises committed to driving transformation through sustainable practices. The success of this program highlights the collaborative efforts of Satu Creative, Yayasan Hasanah and the Ministry of Finance, MDEC, and TEGAS in supporting Malaysia’s social enterprise ecosystem and catalysing meaningful change across the nation.
“It’s inspiring to see social enterprises from across Malaysia – Sarawak, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Kedah – come together, representing the diverse entrepreneurial spirit of our country. This collaboration, bringing together various stakeholders, has truly catalysed the social enterprise movement through knowledge sharing, funding opportunities, and market validation. I’m particularly proud of the inclusivity demonstrated, with Sarawak-based entrepreneurs working alongside their peers from Peninsular Malaysia, building a stronger, united ecosystem for social impact.” said Ahmad Azuar Zainuddin, CEO of Satu Creative.
Participants in SCHIC2024 had the opportunity to pitch for a business grant of up to RM100,000, with a total disbursement of RM500,000. They also gained valuable insights from experienced mentors and industry experts, while connecting with like-minded social entrepreneurs and potential investors.
The Satu Creative Hasanah Impact Challenge 2024 began with selected participants taking part in an intensive bootcamp from 30 September to 1 October, designed to equip them with the tools and knowledge needed to refine their social impact solutions. The program culminated in a Demo Day on 2 October, where participants showcased their innovative solutions to a selection committee and potential investors.
Over the two days, a distinguished lineup of speakers shared valuable insights on the evolving role of social enterprises in Malaysia. Stanley Siva from Yayasan Hasanah, Fadzli Hisham from MDEC, Ibrahim Sani from Yayasan Peneraju, John-Son Oei from EPIC Homes, and Ambika Sangaran from MEREKA offered their expertise on topics ranging from sustainable funding and digital innovation to collaboration and building resilient organisations.
Also amongst the speakers are Muhammad Ibnur Rashad and Saiful Anuar from GUILD Asia. Kim Lim, CEO and founder of PichaEats, delivered an inspiring keynote on the Demo Day, sharing the PichaEats journey and its commitment to empowering marginalised communities through sustainable social enterprises.
The partnership between Satu Creative, MDEC, and TEGAS highlights a shared commitment to driving innovation and social impact in Malaysia. MDEC, as the lead agency in driving the digital economy, brings its expertise in digital transformation, while TEGAS, known for its dedication to nurturing talent and entrepreneurship in Sarawak, adds significant value to the initiative.
Together, these organisations aim to create a robust ecosystem that fosters the growth of social enterprises and contributes to the nation’s digital and sustainable development goals.
With the support of Yayasan Hasanah and the Ministry of Finance, MDEC, TEGAS, and other partners, these enterprises are poised to scale their impact and create lasting, meaningful change. This initiative reaffirms the dedication to fostering a sustainable future through collaborative efforts, innovation, and the empowerment of local communities.
