Razorpay Curlec And Visa Partner To Bring Flexible Instalment Solutions To Malaysian Consumers

As Malaysia’s consumer spending accelerates into 2025, reaching a projected RM943.7 billion on the back of steady income growth, a new wave of digitally savvy shoppers is reshaping the payment landscape. Flexibility, convenience, and smarter ways to pay are now at the forefront of consumer expectations.

Addressing this demand, Malaysia’s leading payment gateway Razorpay Curlec has announced a strategic partnership with global payments leader Visa to introduce Visa Instalment Solutions (VIS) across its platform. The collaboration will enable businesses nationwide to offer customers credit card-based instalment plans, providing greater flexibility in managing both planned purchases and unexpected expenses.

With VIS now integrated into Razorpay Curlec, consumers can split the cost of high-value items into manageable monthly instalments using credit cards from major banks. Businesses, in turn, gain the ability to offer seamless payment options that strengthen customer loyalty and boost sales.

“Today’s consumers don’t just appreciate flexibility — they expect it,” said Kevin Lee, Country Head and CEO of Razorpay Curlec. “Through our partnership with Visa, we’re empowering thousands of businesses to provide trusted instalment options, enhancing the checkout experience and unlocking new avenues for growth.”

Previn Pillay, Country Manager of Visa Malaysia, added, “Instalments are increasingly becoming a smart and manageable way to spend, whether on daily essentials or big-ticket items. By bringing VIS to Razorpay Curlec, we’re giving consumers more control and peace of mind, while supporting inclusive, consumer-focused payment solutions.”

According to the 2024 Visa Consumer Payment Attitudes study, card payments remain dominant in mature markets such as Singapore and Malaysia, where usage stands at 91%. Despite the rise of mobile wallets, instalment-based payments are gaining traction as consumers seek greater flexibility and financial confidence.

Through Easy Payment Plans (EPP), participating businesses can now offer 0% interest instalments with no management fees across a wide range of categories, from electronics and home & living to jewellery and beauty services.

By combining world-class technology with local market insight, Razorpay Curlec continues to redefine digital payments in Malaysia, strengthening its position as a trusted partner for businesses of all sizes in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing digital economies.
