MOSTI Announces Cohort 2 Winners of MYHackathon 2022

Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has announced the list of winners for MYHackathon 2022 Cohort 2 during its closing ceremony, officiated by MOSTI’s Secretary General, YBhg Datuk Ts. Dr. Haji Aminuddin bin Hassim.

Maintaining the theme ‘Hackathon Nasional Untuk Malaysia Inklusif’, the second cohort of this programme that was launched on 22 November 2022 has ended officially after two (2) weeks of intensive boot camp and coaching session.

Four (4) participants were crowned as winners for each of the problem statement and they will each receive RM250,000.00 to work closely with the owner of problem statements to refine their execution plan for their proposed solution for the next 12 months.

The four winners are JomBaca, Beterena, PasarKita and Satok Bridge Digital.

In his speech, YBhg Datuk Ts. Dr. Haji Aminuddin bin Hassim emphasized on the encouraging quality improvement for almost all entries received. It is translated through practicality, innovative ideas and solutions to be implemented at the national level.

This is indirectly able to further improve the Government services as well as to improve the existing system.

“MYHackathon 2022 Cohort 2 has succeeded attracting 268 participants from various groups of and registered companies of different specialty backgrounds from all over Malaysia,” he added.

For acting Group CEO of Cradle, Norman Matthieu Vanhaecke, Cradle Fund Sdn. Bhd. (Cradle) as the organising agency for MYStartup initiative and MYHackathon 2022 will continue to support all startups in Malaysia and guide them from the ideation until commercialisation stage.

“Cradle will keep upholding government’s aspiration to become as one of the top 20 best startup ecosystem in the world by 2030 under Malaysia Startup Ecosytem Roadmap (SUPER) 2021-2030,” he said.

MYHackathon 2022 Cohort 2 is one of many programmes under the national initiative, MYStartup, which commenced last year to support and helping more early-stage startups to boost their business growth through capacity building programme.

To date, more than 5,000 startups and individuals had received benefits from this initiative either in the form of knowledge sharing, coaching session and even startup grant. Previously, a total of four (4) problem statements has been announced by ministries and government agencies to improve their working process and issue s faced by them, which are:

1. Digital management solutions to help nurturing reading culture among students from different categories. Ministry of Education Malaysia
2. Solution to help monitor Chronic Kidney Disease patient’s health status comprehensively. Ministry of Health Malaysia
3. Technological solution to nurture Go-Green culture through community garden, 3R management and reward system towards a better environment’s quality that is clean, beautiful and serene. Ministry of Housing and Local Government
4. Technological solution to deal with human and wildlife conflicts in agro-food sector’s area Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFI)

 

All the participants went through a two (2) weeks boot camp and one-to-one mentoring session from world class mentors before 20 finalists were chosen for final round of pitching today at Rekascape, Cyberjaya.

MYHackathon 2022 has drew its curtain for this year and has witnessed over 700 applications from individuals and startups. This is indicating a positive outlook for local startup ecosystem as it continues to spur one another and instilling growth mindset for them to be more resilient and competitive.
