HRH Tunku Kamariah Graces Ko-Khawan With Royal Visit

Her Royal Highness Tunku Dr Kamariah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Binti Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, the eldest sister of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, visited Koperasi Khazanah Usahawan Berhad (KO-KHAWAN) recently at its Kuala Lumpur headquarters.

During her visit, Her Highness held an interactive session with the Board to understand KO-KHAWAN’s vision, mission for society, and its current growth and future plans. In support of its efforts and direction, Her Highness issued a Letter of Appreciation and formally accepted the appointment as an Honorary Member of KO-KHAWAN.

KO-KHAWAN was established with the aim of empowering and improving the financial well-being of Malaysians, particularly civil servants and underserved communities. Since its inception, it has grown into one of the nation’s most promising cooperatives. Its core focus includes ethical and inclusive financing, public education on financial literacy, and holistic member development.

Its recent outreach efforts span four states, with a particular emphasis on responsible and efficient loan disbursement for thousands of government employees. KO-KHAWAN also continues to raise awareness of cooperative values and initiatives through nationwide campaigns and educational workshops. Financial literacy programmes and entrepreneurship mentoring are offered regularly to help members build resilience and reduce dependency on high-risk borrowing.

Her Highness expressed her readiness to contribute her experience, influence, and network to support KO-KHAWAN’s growth and visibility both within Malaysia and on the international stage.

In her letter, Her Highness remarked:

“You are emerging as one of the most promising cooperatives in Malaysia. Your tireless public education campaigns are commendable. I strongly believe KO-KHAWAN has the potential to enhance financial well-being for many Malaysians and, possibly, to be a shining example on the global stage one day.”

KO-KHAWAN Chairman Dato’ Eng Yee Koon warmly welcomed Her Highness’s support and reaffirmed the cooperative’s ongoing commitment to serving the public good.

“We sincerely value Her Highness’s insights and support. KO-KHAWAN will continue to uphold the principles of transparency, legality, and positive social impact. Our goal remains to generate long-term value for our members and contribute meaningfully to the wider community.”

With more than 3,000 active members and counting, KO-KHAWAN has also established partnerships with local agencies, credit management institutions, and community-based organisations to extend its reach. Looking ahead, KO-KHAWAN plans to implement digital transformation initiatives and develop sustainable financial solutions, strengthening its position as a progressive and impactful cooperative within the ASEAN region.

This royal visit and honorary membership appointment mark a significant milestone for KO-KHAWAN, underscoring the increasing national support for the cooperative movement in Malaysia.
