Assemblr EDU Partners With Indonesian Ministry, Expands Into Malaysia With Backing From Ficus Capital

Assemblr EDU, an immersive education platform backed by Malaysian venture capital firm Ficus Capital, has announced a strategic collaboration with Indonesia’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) to bring augmented reality (AR)-driven learning into classrooms nationwide.

The announcement was made during the inaugural CDT Talks, a thematic education forum organized by Kemendikdasmen’s Center for Data and Information Technology (Pusdatin), under the theme “The Future of Learning: Immersive Technology in Indonesian Classrooms.”

The groundbreaking initiative will give Indonesian teachers—holding official @guru and @pendidik email domains—access to Assemblr EDU’s premium features. These include a robust library of 3D objects, digital teaching aids, AR experience builders, and 3D editors. The partnership is poised to potentially benefit over 16 million users across Indonesia’s national education system.

Yudistra Nugraha, Head of Pusdatin, emphasized the critical role of public-private partnerships in building resilient, adaptive education systems. “This collaboration shows how innovation can be accelerated through strategic alliances,” he said.

Prof. Nunuk Suryani, Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel, added that technology should complement—not replace—educators. “Our goal is to enhance teachers’ creativity and capacity, not to substitute their essential role in the classroom.”

Building on its momentum in Indonesia, Assemblr is now expanding its footprint into Malaysia—fueled by a US$400,000 investment from Ficus Capital through its Ficus SEA Fund. The deal marks Ficus Capital’s first cross-border investment, aligning with its focus on ESG-aligned and Shariah-compliant innovations across Southeast Asia.

Following the investment, Assemblr established its Malaysian subsidiary, Assemblr Studio Sdn Bhd, aimed at replicating Indonesia’s immersive education success locally. The subsidiary will work closely with Malaysian educators, ministries, and ecosystem partners to drive the adoption of immersive learning solutions.

“Assemblr was built with a clear mission—to make education more engaging and accessible for everyone,” said Hasbi Asyadiq, Founder & CEO of Assemblr EDU. “Expanding into Malaysia is a proud milestone as we grow into a global platform that empowers both teachers and students.”

Ficus Capital’s investment underscores growing regional demand for scalable, tech-driven education solutions. Assemblr Studio is expected to serve as a collaborative hub in Malaysia, developing AR-driven teaching tools tailored for the local education system.

“Assemblr EDU gives teachers the tools to spark curiosity and creativity in today’s digital-native students,” Hasbi added. “We’re excited to see how this innovation will benefit Malaysian classrooms.”

The partnership and regional expansion mark a significant step in reshaping how technology is integrated into Southeast Asian education systems—positioning Assemblr as a key player in the immersive learning space.
