Ficus Capital Invests in Global Psytech to Accelerate Ethical Behavioral Analytics Across Southeast Asia

Ficus Capital, the world’s first ESG- and Shariah-driven venture capital management company, has made a strategic investment in Global Psytech Sdn Bhd through its Ficus SEA Fund, marking a significant boost for Malaysia’s growing behavioral analytics sector.

Founded in 2017 and based in Cyberjaya, Global Psytech develops psychometric- and AI-powered platforms aimed at strengthening equitable decision-making in finance, talent management and education. Its key products include General Financial Insight (GFI), a behavioral credit scoring tool serving underbanked and thin-file borrowers; PeAS™, a talent analytics system focused on ethical hiring and employee development; and ExamPro™, an intelligent assessment management platform featuring adaptive testing and AI-driven proctoring.

Global Psytech plans to use the fresh funds to advance three major areas: enhancing and localising its platforms for diverse Southeast Asian markets; deepening its technology stack by integrating adaptive frameworks and advanced analytics to improve accuracy, user experience and scalability; and expanding into new markets, including microfinance and educational equity, while strengthening its data science and behavioral science teams.

CEO and founder Dr Haniza Yon said the partnership reflects a strong alignment of values and vision.

“Ethical capital, when combined with scientific innovation, has the power to unlock profound social impact. This partnership goes beyond funding—it represents a shared commitment to building a trusted ecosystem where behavioural data empowers fair opportunity and long-term social value,” she said.

Dr Haniza added that Ficus’ Shariah-compliant and ESG-focused investment philosophy complements Global Psytech’s mission to develop responsible, impactful innovations grounded in behavioral science.

The investment comes as Global Psytech sharpens its focus on operational efficiency and expands its client base to include small and micro businesses. Over the medium term, the company plans to deepen its presence across the Asia Pacific and MENA regions while building institutional partnerships to support long-term scalability.

Managing Partner of Ficus Capital Abdullah Hidayat Mohamad said Global Psytech’s approach aligns with the fund’s mission.

“Global Psytech exemplifies the kind of purposeful innovation Ficus is proud to back—rooted in science, scalable by design, and inclusive by intention.”

Global Psytech has earned numerous accolades, including Champion of the FIKRA ACE Accelerator 2023, the World Business Excellence Award 2024, and the Top Achievers Award 2023 for Industry Excellence in Advanced Data Analytics. It also won the Pacific Islands Fintech Innovation Challenge by UNCDF in 2022 and holds Malaysia Digital Status from MDEC.

Dr Haniza has similarly been recognised with awards such as the Women-in-Tech Asia Pacific Lifetime Achievement Award 2022 and the Women Digital Entrepreneur Award 2022.
