Optin Studio, a global innovation venture firm with a focus on being community-led, headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, has collaborated with Creww Inc. and Real Madrid Next to launch the Real Madrid Next Accelerator for Asia Program. This ground breaking initiative aims to catalyse innovation within the sports industry across Asia.
Designed to propel the growth of startups and foster a dynamic innovation ecosystem for the future of sports, the Real Madrid Next Accelerator invites early to mid-stage Asian startups across diverse verticals to join hands with Real Madrid Next, the technological innovation arm of the iconic soccer club Real Madrid FC.
Selected startups will gain access to opportunities for business partnerships, potential funding, and investment, alongside Optin Studio’s dedicated support in sourcing and nurturing Malaysian startups poised for global expansion within the football and sports
business realm.
“We recognise the immense talent and potential present within our local grassroots entrepreneurial community. By way of this program, we want to facilitate growth and global expansion for Malaysian entrepreneurs to be amongst other regional startup players that can potentially partner or venture with a renowned sports brand such as Real Madrid,” said Farah Fauzi, Co-Managing Partner at Optin Studio.
“The Real Madrid Next Accelerator for Asia can serve at the very least, as one of the exposure opportunities, for our local homegrown talent to venture out into the regional and global scene, especially within the sports tech sector,” she added.
Echoing this sentiment, Wan Dazriq, Co-Managing Partner at Optin Studio, emphasised the
burgeoning opportunities within the sports and football industry, underlining the critical role
of digital innovation in areas such as fan engagement, data analytics, and sustainability.
“Football has a global appeal and is considered as one of the economic and social powerhouse in the sports industry. We have seen some key trends in this space whereby most sports establishments such as clubs or institutions have emphasised the use of digital in areas such as fan engagements as well as data analytics with regards to athletes and sports performance. These are examples of key innovation trends of today. Not to mention, that sustainability and social aspect has also become a focus area too where diversity and inclusion is concerned,” he added.
The Real Madrid Next Accelerator for Asia Program focuses on six key themes: Sports
Performance, E-Health, AV Content, Fan Engagement, Cybersecurity, and Social Impact.
Selected participants will receive unparalleled support and resources from Real Madrid, as
well as the chance to showcase their innovations at the all-expenses-paid Real Madrid Next Accelerator for Asia Demo Day in Spain later this year.
Applications are open until April 15, 2024. To kickstart this transformative journey, Optin
Studio has curated a series of engagement sessions, commencing with an online ‘kick-off’
event on April 3, 2024, tailored for aspiring startup founders and teams.
